Montana Governor Takes Action on Net Neutrality

Individual states have decided to fight back against the recent FCC decision ending net neutrality. Over twenty state attorneys general have filed suit to block the ruling, but Montana’s governor has gone on a step further. On Monday, Gov. Steve Bullock signed an executive order prohibiting any internet service provider with a state government contract from blocking or charging more for faster delivery of websites to any customer in the state. Many of the major providers, such as CenturyLink, Verizon, AT&T, and Charter, hold such contracts.

This step is the first in what the industry fears will be a patchwork of local regulations that will make it costly for providers to follow.
