Mass Clean Energy Council Hosts Robotics/IoT Community Q1 Meeting

On February 13, 2019, the Robotics/IoT Community met to discuss the intersection of Clean Tech and Robotics/IoT at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Council space in Boston.  The meeting opened with a welcome from MassCEC CEO, Steve Pike.

MassCEC is a state economic development agency dedicated to accelerating the growth of the clean energy sector across the Commonwealth to spur job creation, deliver statewide environmental benefits, and to secure long-term economic growth for the people of Massachusetts. MassCEC works to increase the adoption of clean energy while driving down costs and delivering financial, environmental, and economic development benefits to energy users and utility customers across the state.

Kevin Leary, Founder and CEO at PowerHydrant, provided a company overview, showing the massive forecast growth in Autonomous and Electric Vehicles (EV) and the future of EV charging power trends. PowerHydrant provides an autonomous robotic cost effective and efficient charging solution. See Kevin’s presentation here.

Open discussion about market opportunities for robotics in the clean energy space was led by community co-chairs Tom Ryden, MassRobotics Executive Director, and Ted Acworth, CEO and founder of Artaic. Renewable energy companies are seeing complex engineering challenges that often require the application of robots to save time, increase productivity, or optimize performance. While the deployment of robotics continues to increase, more efficient, better managed, and green power solutions for robots will be required in the future.

MassRobotics received an IncubateMass grant from the MassCEC to to help encourage the development of applications for robots in the clean energy field with the goal of growing the clean energy innovation ecosystem and commercializing cleantech and water innovation startups.
