Spotlight: Local Tech Companies Give Back

Another year is coming to a close, and as many of us prepare to celebrate winter holidays with our loved ones, we’re reminded that it’s the season of giving. MassTLC members contribute generously to the communities around them throughout the year, and now is a great time to celebrate those efforts.

We spoke to a few members to learn more about how they are giving back this season and all through the year. Read their responses, below:

As Guardians of the Connected World, our employees, through their passion and desire to help those in need, are at the heart of our giving. Employees across the globe step up and take the initiative to plan meaningful efforts in their own communities.

Since April 2021 (the start of our FY22) we completed 17 team volunteer projects, where each project earns a grant of $2500 to the organization. Our volunteers have done everything from sorting and packing food at various food banks and pantries, cleaning an animal shelter, installing a raised bed vegetable garden at a shelter for pregnant and parenting teens, and clearing bike trails, as well as skills-based and virtual projects, such as supporting a STEM event for elementary students, helping to run an entrepreneurship camp for high-schoolers, judging student business plans, and a hackathon at a community college in Texas. Local organizations who have benefited from NETSCOUT’s team volunteer programs include Operation Elf (Andover MA), Ironstone Farm (Andover MA), Catholic Charities of Merrimack Valley (Lowell MA), Operation Care for Troops (Nashua NH), and Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (New England Region).

In May 2021, in response to the COVID-19 delta variant surge in India, NETSCOUT made a corporate donation of $50K to Akshaya Patra USA (local chapter in Andover MA) and employees from 15 countries including Australia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan, and the US, raised more than $150K through their own personal donations plus matching gifts, resulting in the NETSCOUT community raising more than $200K for Akshaya Patra USA.

In addition, along with corporate sponsorships, employees volunteered with Habitat for Humanity Greater Lowell (Westford MA), Tech Goes Home (Boston MA), Lowell Transitional Living Center (Lowell MA) and NPower (Brooklyn NY).

Team Pega gives back

  • 17th Annual Holiday Gift Drive: To help make the holidays brighter for local families in need, we are hosting our annual gift card drive for employees to support Kennedy Longfellow Elementary (right down the street from our HQ in Cambridge) and Rainbow Development Center in Worcester. We’ll be packaging up the donated gift cards and delivering them next week.
  • For the third year in a row, employees in the DC/VA area volunteered for the Loudoun County Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program, supporting their mission to provide joy and toys for children in need. The team filled carts with over 2,000 toys, checked them out, packaged, and delivered them to the distribution center, in addition to fundraising over $5,100 for the organization!
  • Our employees across the pond are also organizing charitable events, including a virtual 5k to support a children’s hospice organization in Germany and a Christmas gift purchasing and wrapping event in Poland to support families in need.

Last month, ZoomInfo kicked off its sixth-annual Winter Donation Drive, during which 2,500-plus employees at its many offices around the world spent a month competing to raise the most money for their local charities, including Newton’s Cradles to Crayons. They’ve already outdone their efforts from 2020, when they raised more than $650,000 in cash donations for youth- and family-focused organizations. Over the first five years of the event, ZoomInfo employees have contributed more than $1.23 million in cash and in-kind donations. This year’s event has expanded to include organizations local to ZoomInfo’s newest offices in Canada, India, and San Francisco.
