Salesforce: Meet the Tech Top 50 ‘Company Culture’ and “Tech for Good” Honoree

Tech Top 50 Tech for Good

The MassTLC Tech Top 50 celebrates tech companies and leaders across the region who have made a significant impact in the community during the past 12 month. This year, we are excited to recognize winners across 8 categories: Best Pivot to Meet the New World, Business Accomplishment, Company Culture, Inclusivity Impact, Leadership, New Company of the Year, Tech for Good: Social Responsibility, and Tech to Watch.

Forty-nine honorees were chosen across these categories, with the final recognition, the Mosaic Award, given to Chevalier “Chevy” Cleaves, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer of MIT Lincoln Laboratory, for his work creating access and opportunity for future leaders. View the full list of winners, here.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing more about each of the recipients to spotlight their accomplishments and their impact on customers, partners, employees, and the broader community.

Today, meet Salesforce, one of this year’s honorees for both Company Culture and Tech for Good: Social Responsibility.

Describe your company culture. What are your values and beliefs? How is it expressed by leaders and employees?

At the Salesforce Metro Boston offices, our culture and core values of Trust, Customer Success, Innovation, and Equality influence everything we do. Our top priority continues to be supporting our family of Trailblazers during the COVID-19 pandemic — inclusive of our customers, employees and their families, friends, partners, and communities. We established initiatives, like a day each week without meetings and monthly organization-wide days off, that give employees time to rejuvenate and balance the ever-changing demands of work and home life.

A key element of our company culture is prioritizing volunteerism, and we remain dedicated to reimagining philanthropy in the face of COVID-19. In 2020, through fundraising campaigns, grants, and volunteering, Salesforce employees from our Metro Boston offices supported local chapters of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Habitat for Humanity, Year Up, and the River Hawk Scholars Academy at University of Massachusetts Lowell — to name a few. In 2021, at the time of our submission, we had volunteered over 800 hours with Habitat for Humanity, and we broke ground on the first ever Salesforce-sponsored, two-family home in Concord, Massachusetts.

What have you done that is different for your employees, customers, partners, and/or community that has improved/changed your culture?

The events of this past year have fundamentally changed our lives, and we recognize that how and where people want to work is forever changed. Using employee feedback as our guide, we launched Success from Anywhere earlier this year to give employees more flexibility in how, when, and where they work.

Regardless of where someone works, we are dedicated to ensuring employees have the support they need to be successful. We are committed to cultivating an inclusive environment, and continue fostering a diverse workforce that represents the communities we live in. We’ve expanded use of digital tools like Slack even further to help us scale our culture and keep employees feeling connected. We have also reimagined how we work and are creating environments where team members can gather to collaborate and create meaningful connections.

What does it mean to be recognized with the other Tech Top 50 honorees?

We are honored to have our company culture recognized among other honorees. The pandemic has challenged us to make adjustments in how we work, and together we’re combining the strength of our values, our platform, and our people to reimagine the way we work for the better. We look forward to continue empowering our employees to do their best work and feel connected to our culture from anywhere.
