Roxbury Victorian to Become Home for Minority Women in STEM

Diversity, social mobility, and gentrification are hot topics in the Boston tech scene at the moment, and rightfully so. Though the city has made some progress since being named the most unequal city in America in a 2014 Brookings Institution study (it is now #7 out of 100), income inequality remains a critical, economically draining problem.

Carolle Nau and Brigitte Wallace, co-founders of Roxbury’s SkyLab startup incubator, decided to do something about it. Specifically, they decided to buy – and renovate – a giant, old house on Hutchings Street with the help of Watertown-based design firm, Sasaki

The ambitious project, the [G]Code House, aims to create a co-living and co-working space for no less than 14 young women of color pursuing careers in tech. It will kick off as early as next year.
