The Internet of Things promises seamlessly connected technologies that provide convenience, control, and simplicity. Unfortunately, the components of this ecosystems aren’t yet as interconnected as consumers would like. The integration is cumbersome and disjoined, leaving numerous support gaps. While technological innovation is moving at a rapid pace, a service and support transformation is needed to unify the Internet of Things in the eyes of users. To deliver value in this new era, companies must re-examine the scope of their services and recast their offerings in light of the “Internet of Services.” This is the only way that consumers will truly experience the benefits that the Internet of Things can deliver.
