Measuring Success in DEI Programs

Last Thursday, MassTLC finished its series, Workforce, Workplace, Marketplace: Embedding DEI with Measuring Success. In my initial research, what I learned is that wherever you are on your DEI journey, even the slightest bit of change is success. Our panelists – Kameelah Benjamin-Fuller, Chief Diversity Officer and Corporate Social Responsibility Leader, PTC; Elisa Gilmartin, Chief People Officer, Fuze; Kate Gulliver, Global Head of Talent, Wayfair; and Vanessa Spatafora, Sr. Program Manager, Inclusion, Equity, & Belonging, DraftKings – are all brilliant at creating metrics and using data, but they also cautioned that success is not measured on data alone and programs must be informed by data, not created solely because of it.

Lead by moderator, Jen Savard of PwC, our panel members discussed the critical notion that DEI be tied to the business for optimal success and that companies must invest in analyzing these programs as they would any other product or initiative. And most important, they urged all attendees to try, to not to be discouraged if a program does not succeed, and to keep going. Be accountable, use your influencers, and keep at it.
