DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 2026 CVI Conference dedicated to the leading cause of childhood blindness\, Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment. Explore assessment tools\, the latest research\, and resources for families\, individuals with CVI and providers.\n\n\n\nThe CVI Conference carves out a space where lived experience meets expertise to drive change for people with CVI. \nWe’re bringing together leading experts\, groundbreaking research\, and individuals living with CVI to leverage the power of collective expertise and community. We hope to connect with you there! \nDate: July 19 to 21 \nLocation: Hyatt Regency Boston \nKeynote speaker\nLotfi Merabet\, OD\, PhD\, MPH\n\n\n\n\nLotfi Merabet is a clinician-scientist investigating how the brain adapts to visual impairment. He serves on the Education and CVI Steering Committees of the Perkins School for the Blind\, and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Carroll Center for the Blind and the National Braille Press. Lotfi was also awarded The Perkins CVI Center Champion Award in 2022 for his longstanding partnership with Perkins and his ongoing advocacy for individuals with CVI. \nHe completed his doctorate degree in neuroscience (University of Montréal) and clinical doctorate in optometry (New England College of Optometry). He then continued his post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School\, Boston University\, and the MGH Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging. This was followed by a Master’s degree in Public Health (Harvard). In 2010\, he joined the clinical and research faculty of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear and his work is currently supported by the NIH/National Eye Institute. \nDr. Merabet is the Frederick and Thaddeus Jakobiec Chair in Ophthalmology at Mass Eye and Ear and is leading the charge to improve diagnosis and treatment for CVI\, which is the leading cause of visual impairment in children. Through national workshops\, registries and groundbreaking research\, Dr. Merabet is driving awareness and creating tools to help children with CVI thrive.
